Gygan Troubleshooting Guide

We're going to post any solutions to common problems. Please send us your solutions and we'll share them with Gygan community by adding to this Troubleshooting Guide and FAQs.

Using Gygan

How do I download files?
1. You must download and install Gygan application in order to upload and download files.
2. Go to http://www.gygan.com/downloads/ and click on any download link.
Popup will come up asking if you would like to Save or Open an XXXXXXXXX.gyg file.
Click Open and Gygan will automatically load the file and begin downloading.

Copy and Paste the URL of the download page ( example: http://www.gygan.com/download/XXXXXXXXX/ ) into the input box located in the top right corner of the Gygan Application.

I have a Mac, can I use Gygan?
Unfortunately at this time we only have a Windows version of the app.

How do I register for a Free account?
You do not need to register for a Free account. Installing Gygan application automatically creates a Free account. One Free account per computer.


Uploading Files

What file types and size can I upload?
You can upload any file size and type. Upload one file or a thousand. We recommend that you keep uploads under 2GB in size so that Free members are able to download them (Free users get 2GB of download bandwidth free).

What does create screenshots checkbox do?
When uploading you can create screenshots of the videos. Gygan will automatically create screenshots if your upload has video files only. Screenshots are great for previewing videos before downloading. Gygan users are able to see quality of the video as well as verify that they are downloading the correct video. There is NO support for preview of Audio and Photo uploads.

What is Public, Private, Encrypted?
By default, every upload is automatically Public unless user checks off Private and/or Encrypted checkboxes.
Public Uploads show up on website (http://www.gygan.com/downloads/). Anyone will be able to find the upload on the website. Private Uploads DO NOT. Users must have a Download Link to download the file. Encrypted Uploads are Private Uploads with extra security for anyone that requires it.


Downloading Files

I just downloaded a file, where is it?
You can locate the newly downloaded file by clicking on the Open button in Status column or by going to My Documents -> Gygan Downloads folder on your computer.

Where do I find public downloads?
You can search and browse through Publicly Uploaded files by going to http://www.gygan.com/downloads/

I downloaded a video, but can only hear the audio.
This usually means that you do not have the required Codec to watch the video. We recommend downloading and installing VLC Media Player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html) or K-Lite Codec Pack (http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec ... wnload.htm - Choose Basic Version).
